2.7. Liquid level in automatic transmission
THE GENERAL DATA

Liquid level in automatic transmission should be checked and supported regularly. Insufficient level of a liquid involves proslipping of details of transmission and decrease in road performance of the car. At superfluous level there is a foaming accompanied by loss of a liquid and an exit of transmission out of operation.

To check liquid level in automatic transmission follows after warming up of a liquid to working temperature. The liquid is considered heated-up after a trip to a usual mode on distance of 16 km (or 24 km at cold weather), and temperature of a liquid from 70 to 80 ° for S.Posle of a trip under trying conditions (long driving with high speed, towage, a trip in city conditions in hot weather) wait not less than 30 minutes

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Establish the car on an equal horizontal platform, include a manual brake, start the engine and translate in an operating mode idling. Press a pedal of a brake and translate the lever of the selector from position Р through all range of transfers to extreme position and again return in River position
2. Get control probe (it is specified by an arrow) (the engine continues to idle) and check up level and a liquid condition.
3. Wipe probe pure rags, again insert probe against the stop into a flange. Get probe and check up liquid level.
4. If level was checked on a cold liquid it should be between labels Cold or Сool if the liquid is heated-up level should be between labels Hot. If level is near to the bottom labels add a liquid of the recommended mark through a funnel.
5. Add only necessary quantity of a liquid, without exceeding admissible level. To finish level from the bottom mark to top it is necessary approximately about 0,5 l of a liquid (if a liquid hot). Add a liquid in very small portions, periodically checking level.
6. If the liquid of black or dark brown colour, or extends "a burnt" smell it is necessary to replace it. At a doubtful condition compare a fresh liquid with fulfilled on colour and a smell.
