The drive of a gear wheel of a starter on cars is provided 1980-87 with the lever connected with плунжером of the traction relay. Since 1988 on cars Land Cruiser 2 types of starters with a planetary reducer are established. Starters of these types are not subject to repair and vary in gathering with the traction relay.
On cars from a manual transmission the starter joins only after pressing a coupling pedal. On cars with automatic transmission the starter joins after selector transfer in position Park or Neutral.

As the starter directly is connected to the battery, at inept actions, overloads or casual short circuits probably formation of an arch and fire occurrence.
Before the beginning of repair of units of system of start of the engine always disconnect the battery from weight.
